The Coniston Ladies Club

Launching The Coniston Ladies Club

Held on the last Sunday of every month – arrive 9:15am9:30am for a 10am start.

The Coniston Ladies Club is a relaxed, regular meet-up on the ground, welcoming brand-new visitors, returning shooters, and long-time members alike.

No pressure. Just good company, clear guidance and a few clays in the fresh Yorkshire air.

What the club is:

  • Free to join and open to everyone. You don’t have to be a Coniston Shooting Ground member.
(Members still enjoy their usual discounts on clays and cartridges.)
  • It’s pay-as-you-go on the day for clays, cartridges, drinks and food.
  • A friendly, hosted meet-up – not a competition. Come for the chat and the confidence boost as much as the shooting.

Who it’s for:

  • Complete beginners who’d like to try clay shooting in a supportive group.
  • Lapsed or casual shooters who want to dust off the cobwebs.
  • Experienced shots who fancy a relaxed day with like-minded women.
All experience levels are genuinely welcome.

How a club day will run:

We’ll meet in the clubhouse for a welcome and a plan for the day, then head to several sporting stands together.

  • Expect around 50 clays if you fancy it – or fewer if that suits you better.
  • If we’re a big group, we’ll split into smaller teams so everyone gets plenty of time on the stand and chance to chat.
  • As the club grows, we’ll introduce opportunities to try new disciplines for those who are keen.

Hosted by Elise & Mynnie – our friendly team, easygoing, supportive and on hand throughout.

No licence? No problem.

If you don’t hold a licence, you can book a 90-minute group lesson (ladies without a licence, grouped together) with one of our instructors: £70 per person. It’s a brilliant, confidence-building way to begin.

Licence holders – what to bring:

  • Your gun and licence
  • Ear Defenders
  • Layers for the Yorkshire Dales weather
  • Cartridges (also available to buy in the lodge if needed)
We recommend hats and safety glasses across the ground; if we shoot the grouse butts, they’re mandatory.

Dates:

  • Next meet: Sunday 21st and Sunday 28th December — arrive 9:15am – 9:30am for a 10am start.
  • We’ll run a Ladies Club day every month for the rest of this year (dates to be confirmed).
  • From January, it’ll be the last Sunday of every month.

Full details and any updates will be on our website and socials.

How to join us

Give the office a call to add your name. Places aren’t capped, but a headcount helps us plan groups so the day stays relaxed and well-run.

A few friendly FAQs

Do I need to be a member?
No – everyone’s welcome. Members simply receive their usual discounts on clays and cartridges.

Is anything included?
It’s free to join the club; on the day it’s pay-as-you-go for cartridges, clays, drinks and food.

Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. We’ll make introductions and keep the pace easy.

What if I’m nervous / very new?
That’s exactly what this club is for. Start with the group lesson if you don’t have a licence, or let us know you’re new and we’ll look after you on the stands.
